MATCH REPORT | CF UD Calpe 2-0 CD Jávea
A fifth defeat in the opening six games leaves the rojiblancos firmly established in the bottom three.
CD Jávea fell to their fifth defeat of the season and remain firmly rooted to the bottom of the table after a 0-2 reverse at UD CF Calpe on Sunday afternoon. The Marina Alta derby followed a predictable script with the confident home side imposing strong pressure on the ‘rojiblancos’ and forcing a succession of corners and throw-ins that prevented the visitors from mounting any attack against the Calpinos.
The first goal arrived early in the game when former Jávea player Alvaro took advantage of the confusion caused by one of the long throw-ins into the visitor’s area and smashed home from close range. And then Calpe laid siege to Tonet’s goal, allowing Jávea just the occasional foray towards the other end, before the half-time whistle brought temporary relief.
In the second-half, the ‘rojiblancos’ showed more confidence and forced a couple of chances to equalise through Carlos Bisquert and Tomás Calvo. But the home side rallied to restore their dominance and doubled their advantage on 60 minutes when Rubio came out best in a one-on-one with the keeper. And it could have been worse for the ‘rojiblancos’ had Meji and Fede converted their chances.
The defeat leaves CD Jávea in the bottom three with just a single point from the opening six games but one position ahead of bottom club CD Thader who were thrashed 0-5 at home by Crevillente Deportivo and have yet to score a goal in this inaugural season of the elite Lliga Comunitat. The two sides will meet down in Rojales in mid-November.
