CD Jávea returned to action after the San José break with a trip to Sueca to take on CF Promeses Sueca on a small pitch that made it difficult for the rojiblancos to play their passing game and they struggled to contain a determined home side which almost opened the scoring after just five minutes when a striker broke free and found himself in a one-on-one situation with the keeper but he blazed his shot over the bar.

CF Promeses were keen to do early damage to the visitors and pounced on every hint of a defensive mistake but, on the best occasion, the resulting shot hit the bar. The battle proved to take an early casualty when the home side found itself reduced to ten men when Fulgen was shown a straight red for an elbow in the face to Jávea’s Paco. But it made little difference and the rojiblancos struggled to mount an attack on the home goal, restricted to a couple of long-range shots from outside of the area. And then, just before half-time, CF Promeses received reward for its pressure with a goal from Moises to put them into a 1-0 lead at the break.

The second half began in similar fashion with Jávea struggling to take control of the game and finding themselves overwhelmed by the home side. Head coach Julio Ivorra made three early changes, bringing on David, Álvaro and Carlos for Joan, Cabo and Elián but the home side continued to defend with confidence and Ivorra was forced to make two further changes to find a way through, throwing on Tomás and Borja for Marcos and Pako. In the final minutes of the game, Jávea scored through Javi to force a share of the spoils.

Why is a top eight spot important?

In October 2022, the 55 clubs of the Regional Preferente voted to create a new regional tier – the Lliga Comunitat – which will become the highest division in the Comunidad Valenciana and will consist of two groups of 16 teams. It will begin next season – 2023-2024 – and will be the feeder division into the Tercera Federación, the bottom tier of the national pyramid system. The group winners would win automatic promotion whilst the second and third placed teams in each group would play-off for the remaining two spots. The bottom three in each group will be relegated to the Primera FFCV.

The current Regional Preferente will become the Primera FFCV and consist of four groups as it does now. The group winners would win automatic promotion to the Lliga Comunitat whilst the two remaining spots will be claimed by the winners of the play-offs between the runners-up in each group. The bottom three in each group will be relegated to the Segona FFCV. The bottom tier will be renamed Tercera FFCV.

In order to form the two groups of the Lliga Comunitat, it was agreed that the top eight teams of the current four groups of the Regional Preferente would qualify, except those four teams who win promotion to the Tercera Federación through the end-of-season play-offs; they will be replaced by those teams relegated from the higher division.
