CD Jávea dropped into the bottom three, albeit on goal difference, after a home defeat against CE La Font d’En Carròs on Sunday morning. After a goalless first half, the visitors went ahead before Javi equalised from the penalty spot. The visitors then snatched victory 15 minutes from the end, their physical strength being a great factor against an injury-ravaged home side.

Jávea have won just twice in the last ten games, both away from home, and the home fans haven’t been able to enjoy a victory on their own patch since the opening day of the season at the beginning of the season. Chaos behind the scenes, which almost saw the club fold, has combined with an ever-lengthening injury list to produce a miserable opening half to the season.

The home side ran out in their change strip of blue due to a clash of kits with the visitors and and, with two victories on the road this season, there might have been some optimism that fate might intervene. And indeed, Luis García had the first chance of the game with just the keeper to beat but a defender managed to track back and take the ball from him. With the experienced Adrian Ramis and promising young striker Carlos Bisquert, making his first start in the senior team, playing up front, things looked promising, especially with the potential of them being fed by two wingers.

Local pressure was constant in the opening minutes. A shot from Javi went just wide, Luis García fired just over, another effort from Javi was blocked by a defender, and Luis García then saw a powerful shot deflected for a corner. It was not for lack of effort that the home side failed to find the back of the net in the first half. And at the other end, the visitors failed to record a single shot on target.

The second half was totally different. Borja came on for Carlos Bisquert to take on the striking responsibility but the home side were suddenly struggling for dominance in midfield and the visitors were able to lift their game, going ahead after 53 minutes through Joan Artesero. The home side responded immediately and forced an equaliser when a shot from Elian struck the hand of a defender and Javi tucked away the penalty.

For a while, both sides cancelled each other out in midfield but it was the visiting side which gradually forced their way into attack and scored what would turn out to be the winner on 75 minutes when the home defence failed to clear a high ball into the centre and Llacer smashed the ball into the back of the net. And it might have been a whole lot worse when Joan almost increased La Font’s lead but his effort was pushed wide by Tonet.
