MATCH REPORT: CD Jávea 1-0 Catral-Castrum CF
A goal from substitute Nico eight minutes from time secured the rojiblancos first home win of the season.
CD Jávea claimed their first win at home this season, thanks to a late goal from substitute Nico. The victory was fully deserved for a side that looked far better than the team that rolled over and allowed CD Betis Florida to score four times in the last home game and the players fully deserved the applause at the end. The three points lifts the club into seventh spot, five points off the leaders.
It was a solid game, played to the limits by both sides who initially cancelled themselves out in midfield until the chances started to come in the latter minutes of the first half, the visitors forcing two good saves out of Fede before the hosts began to apply pressure and having the best chances to open the scoring just before the break through Ofi, Josep and Cabo, the referee also waving away a possible penalty after Ofi was bundled down inside the area.
The second half opened in the same manner with the home side dominating in midfield and pouring plenty of ammunition down the right flank only for the visiting defence to work hard to push away the shots. But it was felt that a goal for the home side was on its way and it eventually arrived after 82 minutes when substitute Nico took control of a loose ball and calmly slotted home to the left of the advancing keeper. And it could have been two a few minutes later when another substitute Leo Blasco, making his full home debut for the club, was fractionally off-target from a very narrow angle, his low shot smashing into the wrong side of the side netting before goalscorer Nico might have claimed his second but his shot went just wide.
Elsewhere in the league, Mutxamel CF and CD El Campello remain at the top of table with 15 points after both winning and it will be an interesting match next week when they play each other in Mutxamel. Three points behind lie CD Montesinos who drew away at CF Sporting de San Fulgencio, Jávea’s opponents next week, whilst CD Murada lie in 4th spot with 11 points after a comfortable 3-0 win over bottom club CF Intercity ‘B’. At the bottom, the reserve side have just 1 point for the first six games and have already conceded 21 goals. Three points above them are CD Sporting de Fulgencio, Villena CF, CD Almoradí and CD Betis Florida.
Next week, CD Jávea are at home again, hosting CD Sporting de San Fulgencio at the Campo d’Esports Municipal, kick-off details to be confirmed.
