MATCH REPORT: CD Jávea 0-4 CD Betis Florida

The rojiblancos crashed to their heaviest home defeat for almost three years as the campaign starts to stutter.

CD Jávea crashed to the heaviest home defeat since December 2021 in a remarkable game which, on paper at least, the rojiblancos should have comfortably won and joined the early pace-setters at the top of the table. The stunning 5-2 away win in the previous game against a side that had opened their campaign with a 4-1 victory over today’s visitors CD Betis Florida.

However, the rojiblancos would fall to their second home defeat of the season against a side that knew how to dominate a match, pouncing effectively on defensive mistakes to stun the fans in the stand. Jávea had very little to show for their efforts, failing to register a single shot on target as the visiting defence shut up shop and allowed very little to pass their line.

CD Betis Florida went ahead on 34 minutes with a penalty struck confidentially past Fede by Asier. Eight minutes later, they doubled their advantage through veteran striker Pedro Sánchez, a player with a long career playing for the likes of Real Zaragoza, Elche, Córdoba and Hércules, who was quickest to leap on a loose ball high in the air to nod it over the advancing keeper from six yards.

After the break, the home side looked a far better side but fell apart once again when Sánchez scored his second goal and the visitor’s third on 68 minutes. It only got worse for the home side, the referee waving away penalty claims after substitute Ofi was held off in the area, and Betis Florida, inspired by former Watford player Toro Acuña, scored a fourth in the 81st minute to kick the life out of a side that seems only to know how to win away from home.

And they’ll need to continue that away form next weekend when they travel to face current league leaders CD Montesinos.
