After the disappointment of last weekend’s opener in Alicante, CD Jávea will be looking to claim their first points of the season in front of their own fans this Sunday. However, it won’t be easy. The first home game of the season will also be the first big Marina Alta derby of the campaign, a tough match against arch rivals CD Dénia.

Seeing as it is a local derby, the club is hoping for a bumper crowd which will bring the same noisy support that encouraged the side to victory in the final game of last season when the main stand was packed with fans dressed in red and white. A membership drive during pre-season has attracted more club members of all nationalities (see below) and they will be able to collect their season passes on Sunday. For the general public, the admission price is 10 euros.

CD Dénia opened their own campaign with a 1-0 home win over CD Eldense “B” and will make the short journey in confident mood. And, being such close neighbours, they will inevitably arrive with a few familiar faces in their squad: goalkeeper Edu Samblas, striker Panucci, and midfielders Paco Gazquez, Ferran Molina and Renzo Ridao have all worn the red-and-white stripes in recent years whilst veteran midfielder Carlos Ribes spent a couple of seasons with the rojiblancos over a decade ago.
