L’Olleria CF arrive in Jávea finding themselves at the very bottom of the table after a 2-3 home defeat to league leaders CD Eldense ‘B’ and CD Thader’s shock home win over CD Dénia. Yet to claim any points on the road, the side from Vall d’Albaida will be looking to kick-start their disappointing start to the season, especially when one considers their impressive second spot finish last season when they were the surprise side of the season. CD Jávea need a win on home turf, confidence taking a massive hit last week at FB Redován CF when two early defensive mistakes allowed the home side to take control of the game almost from kick-off.

The Opposition

L’Olleria CF was formed in 1930 and started life playing friendly games against surrounding villages before entering official regional competition in the early 50s. It wasn’t a great success and within two years the club abandoned the Third Regional League and returned to playing local games. The club return to regional football in the late 60s and this time their journey was much more successful, achieving three quick promotions to each the Regional Preferente for the first time, although it proved to be a step too far as they suffered immediate relegation.

In the late 1970s, the club was forced to abandon official competition again and returned to playing in local leagues until an overhauled club entered the Third Regional League in 1983 and began a meteoric rise through the regional football pyramid to each the Third Division by the end of the decade; their seventh places finishes in the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons remain their highest ever positions to date.

After three seasons in the Third Division, the club suffered relegation and another decline in fortunes as it dropped back down the Second Regional League in successive seasons. It returned to the Regional Preferente in 2000, lasting a couple of seasons before dropping back down the First Regional League. A second-placed finish at the end of the 2017-18 season and a subsequent play-off victory earned a return to the Regional Preferente where the club remained until winning a place in the Lliga Comunitat by finishing second at the end of the 2022-23 season.
