MATCH DETAILS

SATURDAY 16th DECEMBER, 5.45pm
CD Jávea vs CF La Nucia “B”
Camp d’Esports Municipal Xàbia
Camí Moli Safranera
03730 Jávea (Alicante)

It’s been a rather depressing start to the festive season. The heaviest defeat for 42 years at the hands of league leaders and early season favourites CF Benidorm means that CD Jávea now sit joint bottom of the table with CD Thader on eight points from 12 games. The rojiblancos also struggled to get past Second Regional side CF Rafalafena de Castellón in the regional cup competition just before the long holiday weekend, head coach Julio Ivorra struggling to field his strongest side due to an ever-increasing injury list.

A home victory would send the fans home for the festive break in a happier mood. CF La Nucia “B” have had an average start to the season, literally, with 4 wins, 4 draws and 4 defeats which puts them top of the bottom half of the table. They will have been boosted by the home win over early pace-setters CD Eldense “B”, their first win in seven games, and the fact that they have never lost a game against CD Jávea (in their current format).

THE OPPOSITION

The reserve side of CF La Nucia, which currently bottom of Group III of the Segunda Federación, was formed in 2017 and achieved promotion in its first season, finishing runners-up to CF Calvari de Benidorm in Group 12 of the Segunda Regional. The side spend just two seasons in the Primera Regional, finishing 3rd in 2018/19 and then claiming the runners-up position the following campaign behind CF UD Calpe, a season which was ended prematurely by the COVID-19 pandemic with the FFCV offering automatic promotion to all second-placed sides at this level.

For the 2020/21 season, CF La Nucia “B” played in Group 5 of the modified Regional Preferente and finished 7th out of the 14 teams. The following season, they moved to Group 4 as the Preferente was modified again and CF La Nucia “B” finished runners-up to CF Gandía but losing out to UD Rayo Ibense in the play-offs. The side finished second again last season behind Callosa Deportiva CF but lost to CD Utiel in the play-offs but gained a spot in the inaugural FFCV Lliga À Punt Comunitat.
