Match Preview: CD Jávea v CD Montesinos
CD Jávea aim to keep hold to top spot with a Sunday midday home game against CD Montesinos.

CD JÁVEA v CD MONTESINOS
Sunday 2nd March, 12.00pm
Camp d’Esports Municipal, Xàbia
OUR OPPONENTS

There has been a football club representing the town of Los Montesinos since 1973. The current club was founded in 2007 as the fourth incarnation of Club Deportivo Montesinos.
The club spent the first ten seasons in the bottom tier of the FFCV regional football pyramid, the Segunda Regional, until they won promotion at the end of the 2016-2017 season as champions of Group 16, winning 17 of their 22 games. Two seasons in the Primera Regional followed, a fifth position finish followed by relegation back to the Segunda Regional after finishing second from bottom of Group 8.
The 2019-2020 season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic but finished with CD Montesinos topping Group 14 based on a federation co-efficiency rating which ranked them as clear winners with 22 wins from 24 games and the club enjoyed an immediate return to the Primera Regional.
The FFCV restructuring of regional football in the Comunidad Valenciana in 2023 saw CD Montesinos drop to tier 3 Segona FFCV for the 2023-24 season and they enjoyed another championship campaign, topping Group 8 with 19 wins from 30 games and winning promotion back to tier 2, the Primera FFCV.
THIS SEASON
CD Montesinos topped the table after four games with three wins but just six wins in the next 15 games resulted in the club slipping away from leading pack, dropping as low as 8th after a 1-2 home defeat to a resurgent CD Betis Florida in Week 18, their lowest position of the season. Last week, they recovered to record a second win in the last six games, a 5-3 away victory at Catral-Castrum CF, completing the ‘double’ over another side that set an early pace in the table.
HEAD 2 HEAD
CD Jávea and CD Montesinos met for the first ever time competively at the beginning of October, a 1-1 draw in Los Montesinos, a stalemate that saw the hosts drop down to third and the ‘rojiblancos’ slip to 10th.

CD Jávea are the form team at the moment, topping the table for the first time after a 1-0 win at CD Betis Florida last weekend, the club’s 11th win of the season. Away form has been strong, an average of 2.0 points per game over eight games, the best in the group alongside Mutxamel CF.
However, Jávea’s early home form was somewhat erratic and, having played more home games than anyone else (11), the average of 1.7 points per game is the mean for the whole group. That said, the recent run of good form has seen the club record four successive home wins, including a dominating performance over Mutxamel CF.
CD Montesinos’ away form has average 1.2 points a game, just above the group mean of 1.1 points, and they have won their last two games on the road against Benferri CF and last weekend against one of the form teams of the moment CD Betis Florida. However, those two victories have been their only two over the past six games.
