CD Jávea’s lead is cut to just one point as the rojiblancos disastrous run of form continues.

Marina Alta Football

Lliga À Punt Comunitat – Grup Sud

With two games of the regular season remaining, just four points separate the top five with Novelda UD CF holding top position – and the only automatic promotion spot – on the strength of a better head-head-to-head record against UD Tavernes, who remain in the promotion play-off zone alongside Hércules CF ‘B’. Next weekend, four of the top five meet – UE Tavernes vs UD Beniganim and Hércules CF ‘B’ vs Novelda UD CF – whilst CFI Alicante could slip right into the fight with a win at FB Redovan CF.

At the bottom, CF Gandia are relegated after a 0-2 home defeat to Hércules CF ‘B’, their fifth loss in a row, and a somewhat sad end to a season of uncertainty which started with the possibility that the club would not be able to register a team to compete in the Lliga Comunitat and would be “relegated” to the Tercera FFCV. They are joined by Paterna CF, the 2-3 home defeat to CD Thader confirming an immediate return to the Primera FFCV.

Who will join them? CD Dénia dropped into the bottom three for the first time after their 0-2 home defeat to UE Tavernes, their sixth straight loss, and they are three points adrift of safety with CD Eldense B’s win at league leaders Novelda UD CF, their fourth win in a row, lifting them out of the relegation zone for the first time. UD Calpe’s third defeat in a row, a 0-4 thrashing at CFI Alicante, leaves them four points clear of the drop zone; a point at home to Paterna CF should see them safe.

Primera FFCV – Grupo 4

CD Jávea’s commanding lead at the top of table has been whittled down to just a single point, thanks to a collapse in form that has seen three successive defeats – all away from home – to leave promotion hopes on tenterhooks with four games remaining. Santa Pola’s third win in a row and Mutxamel’s home win means that just two points separate the top three, with CD Murada, CD Betis Florida and CD Almoradí not far behind.

CD Jávea will be looking to get their season back on track next weekend at home to CD El Campello whilst Santa Pola CF travel to Novelda CF, two sides in form at the moment, and Mutxamel CF have a tricky trip up the coast to Villajoyosa CF.

At the other end, both CF Intercity ‘B’ and CF Sporting de Fulgencio are relegated, the latter having gone an incredible ten games without scoring. The fight to avoid to drop is likely to last until the very final game of the season with a whole host of clubs fighting for survival.

Segona FFCV – Grupo 6

CF Simat retain a two-point lead at the top of the table, despite a 1-2 defeat at struggling Real de Gandía CF, their first defeat since the beginning of November last year, thanks FB Teulada-Moraira’s defeat at UD Oliva. With four games remaining and the nearest rival UE Benifairó six points behind, it really is going to be a fight between the two clubs for who will take the automatic promotion spot and who will have to rely on the play-offs.

At the bottom CD Dénia ‘B’ are already relegated; UD Alginet slip to 15th after a home defeat to Gorgos CF whilst Almussafes CF’s second win in succession, an stunning 5-2 away victory at Daimús CF which more or less ends the latter’s hopes of promotion, lifting the club to within four points of safety. CF Miramar’s loss at CF Cullera keeps them in touch with the drop zone whilst CF Bellreguard’s 0-0 draw at CF Orba edges them away from the bottom three.

Tercera FFCV – Grupo 12

CF Benitatxell’s 29th game without a defeat – a 3-0 home win against UD Benissa ‘B’ – all but confirmed their promotion to the Segona FFCV as champions of Group 12. CEF El Verger could mathematically catch them but only if the runaway league leaders have a complete collapse in form and El Verger score a mountain of goals in their last four games. So, congratulations to CF Benitatxell (who have strong links with Jávea).
