Cancer advocate María Ferrer and Tenin García, the head of the rowing section of the Club Náutico de Jávea have launched a day to raise awareness of this sport among women who have overcome or are overcoming breast cancer. It will take place on Sunday 7th November from 9.00am until 11.00am.

The two women joined with the manager of the yacht club, Luis Nogueroles, to formalize the agreement to launch the project, since rowing is a sport that offers multiple benefits to women who have suffered breast cancer, not only physically but also psychologically.

Ferrer told XAD that sport is very important in cancer recovery, and she is an example of this as she has recently gained the title of coach. For this reason, she stressed that initiatives like this will allow all women to “become aware of the benefits of sport and, more so, of rowing”.

For her part, Tenin García added that the practice of rowing for women who have overcome breast cancer is beneficial “not only in the physical aspect, but also for the mental side” as well as providing an opportunity for socializing and providing an escape from their suffering for just a few hours through the enjoyment of the bay of Xàbia.
