Local police force closure of smoking club in historic centre of Xàbia
The agents found two kilograms of hashish and marijuana inside the premises.
The Policía Local de Xàbia has closed a smoking club that was operating in Carrer Major in the historic centre after many complaints from nearby residents over the smells and smoke that was being generated by the premises.
The closure took place on the afternoon of Friday 14th June, two days after officers carried out an inspection inside the premises when they discovered several violations of current regulations as well as a large amount of drugs, including two kilograms of hashish and marijuana, which were seized along with a set of precision scales.
As a result of the inspection, the local police established judicial proceedings which have been transferred to the Guardia Civil Xàbia to continue the investigation and determine the offences that have been made in accordance with the Penal Code.
In addition, the local police determined that the smoking club did not have the appropriate civil liability insurance, was carrying out an activity without a licence, and allowed or tolerated illicit activities inside the premises.
