The Policía Local de Xàbia visited the bars and restaurants on the Arenal beach zone this Thursday to confirm that they comply with the regulations set out in the decree for the start of the de-escalation phase issued by the Generalitat Valenciana.

Beach venues with enclosed terraces have been the object of numerous complaints to the police from the general public regarding their use. Are they terraces or are they not terraces?

A patrol has verified that all the venues are actually complying with this decree, since these terraces are open on “two sides”, whilst in the interior spaces of the premises, no service is provided. Some have placed seals to prevent the passage of customers, others have them closed completely.

The venues of the Arenal have their charm on the terraces, closed and glazed to provide service in winter. Its special idiosyncrasy is the object of suspicion on the part of the owners of other hospitality businesses in the municipality, especially those to whom the Council has not allowed them to occupy the sidewalks with their tables and chairs, their complaint and discomfort having already been publicly denounced by the municipality’s business associations.
