Xàbia Council has unveiled two new vehicles to strengthen the operational and response capabilities of its security and emergency services: a light fire engine for the Protección Civil and a specialized vehicle for the Policía Local Drone Unit.

The new light fire engine is specifically designed to improve Protección Civil’s response capacity in emergency situations, especially in hard-to-reach areas or for fire prevention tasks. Compact, versatile, and equipped with cutting-edge technology, this vehicle will allow for faster response times in forested areas within the municipality.

It has been specifically built for our Protección Civil team with lightweight materials, leaf spring lift, and a 600-litre tank capacity, will allow for greater speed and maneuverability. The goal is to provide a more efficient and rapid response to any type of emergency, especially in rural or hard-to-reach areas.

For its part, the Policía Local de Xàbia is incorporating a fully adapted vehicle for its Drone Unit, a key resource for surveillance, search and rescue, and the control of major events and environmental emergencies. It includes space for transporting and deploying state-of-the-art drones as well as real-time communication and data analysis systems to enable the control and management of the technology during surveillance, search and rescue, and other public safety interventions, such as:

  • Surveillance at mass events: Drones allow aerial surveillance during public events or in hard-to-reach areas.
  • Search and rescue: In rescue operations, drones provide panoramic and thermal imaging that makes it easier to locate people in emergency situations.
  • Monitoring of risk situations: Drones provide a valuable tool for monitoring risk areas, such as fires or heavy traffic.

The benefits for Xàbia include:

  • Faster and more accurate response in emergency situations. Improved response times for fires and rescues.
  • Greater coverage and security in hard-to-reach areas.
  • Greater capacity for monitoring and preventing crime.
  • Strengthening the response capacity and operational efficiency of Protección Civil and Policía Local in emergency situations

Both Mayor Rosa Cardona and the councilor responsible for Security and Emergencies in Xàbia, Juan Ortolá (CpJ), emphasized during the presentation that “these new resources demonstrate that security is a top priority for this government. Technological innovation and prevention provide our emergency services with the necessary tools to efficiently protect and serve citizens“.
