On Saturday 5th October at 8.30pm, the Plaza de la Iglesia of Xàbia will become the setting for a historic celebration: the 30th anniversary of La Tuna de Xàbia. This event, organized for the first time jointly by the town hall and the group, will pay tribute to three decades of musical and cultural history.

The councilor responsible for Culture, Mavi Pérez, has underlined the importance of this collaboration, highlighting that “this is a great step to value the legacy of La Tuna de Xàbia, a cultural heritage whixch fills us with pride and one which we must preserve”. She also highlighted that this year is being especially significant for many cultural associations in the municipality, which celebrate important anniversaries, and has expressed her satisfaction at being able to “accompany La Tuna at this very special moment”.

La Tuna de Xàbia has been working tirelessly throughout the year on the preparations for this event, which promises to be a day full of surprises and fun for all attendees. “It is not only a tribute to La Tuna, but also a tribute to the people of Xàbia and, especially, to the women in our lives, who have been a fundamental pillar so that we can reconcile our family life with life as a ‘tuno’,” said Juan Antonio Savall, one of the most veteran members of the group.

During the event, La Tuna de Xàbia will be accompanied by groups from all over Spain, reinforcing the national character of the celebration and underlining the importance of this group for both local and national musical culture.

In addition, La Tuna has launched a special invitation to the young people of the municipality, encouraging them to start in the art of ‘la tuna’. “We want the new generations to join this legacy that has been present in the most representative moments of the history of Xàbia,” said Savall.

The group also wanted to thank its sponsors, Gaspar Cruañes and Colette Brugier, for their unconditional support throughout these 30 years, and the councillor Mavi Pérez for her collaboration in the organisation of this anniversary.

The mayor of Xàbia, Rosa Cardona, praised the trajectory of La Tuna, stressing that “La Tuna of Xàbia is unique. They have always brought colour, solemnity and music to each of the events in which they participate. We must continue to support them so that they can continue to bring their joy for many more years”. Cardona added that Lae Tuna is a key piece in the cultural life of the municipality and that its presence at local fiestas is essential.

Mavi Pérez closed her speech by highlighting the effort and dedication with which La Tuna de Xàbia has prepared this celebration. “This event is full of love and affection, a reflection of the effort and enthusiasm that La Tuna puts into transmitting its essence to each and every one of the residents. I am sure
that they will make the whole town of Xàbia enjoy it, and they will also enjoy this unforgettable day
”.
