Juan Ayuso, fifth in the Volta a Catalunya

Xàbia cyclist Juan Ayuso has completed his participation in the Tour of Catalonia with a commendable fifth place, 1 minute and 8 seconds behind the leader, Colombian Sergio Andrés Higuita, and less than 20 seconds behind his UAE Team Emirates teammate Joao Almeida who finished third.
In fourth place was Nairo Quintana and behind the Colombian champion, came the xabiero, who was nevertheless the third in the category of the youngest in the test. This is Ayuso’s first World Tour event and the team itself in its report of the day assures that Ayuso has achieved “a high mark” after his first stage by stage in this category.
In the last two days he has been present in the two breakaways in the group of the leader and in the last stage disputed this Sunday in a circuit by Barcelona which ended in Montjuic, Ayuso has arrived fourth, trying to sprint in the last metres.
In his Twitter account Ayuso stated “@VoltaCatalunya completed! I did my best and that’s what I could get. Let’s go for Itzulia!”

The next appointment for Ayuso will be the Vuelta al País Vasco from the 4th to the 9th of April.
