Javea Players: Coming to terms with grief
The play will be performed in mid- November at the Javea Players Studio Theatre and tickets are selling fast.
Jávea Players’ emotional play, The Long Road, is all about forgiveness – how you deal with the unimaginable, how you start along the ‘long road’ to reconciliation, whether that is reconciling with your family, a victim, a perpetrator or simply yourself. Imagine an ordinary family of four, a mother, father and two brothers and then someone murders the youngest son, 18-year-old Danny.
The mother, Mary, [Cath Reid-Martin] is key to driving the story as she spots Emma [played by Arabella Wallace] the girl who committed the murder, in a newspaper article. She is determined to find a way to navigate her family through the darkness.
John, the father [Nigel Poole], struggles with the loss, hitting the gym or the whisky. The brother, Joe [Alessandro Contardi], gives a mature portrayal despite only still being a GCSE student.
At a time, when knife-crime is so prevalent and seems to hit the headlines every day, this play is modern, contemporary and very relevant. There is some explicit language, but also dark humour.
It will be performed in the Jávea Players´ Studio Theatre between 18th and 23rd November at 19.30. Tickets cost €15 and are selling fast. Click here for more information.
