Although rehearsals have already begun, the roles are still available to be cast. Newcomers are welcome to give it a try!

Jávea Players are still trying to fill two parts for the ‘Little Panto on the Prairie’ which they will be performing next January. Both roles can be played by a man or a woman and newcomers are welcome to give it a go.

Welcome to the wild, wild west and the town of Windy Bottom, the setting for Rich Lock’s new, original, pantomime. Madame Moonshine runs the local saloon with her hapless barman, Tumbleweed. The evil sheriff, Cactus Jack, has plans to take over the saloon and turn it into a casino and will stop at nothing to achieve his goal.

This involves hiring a couple of Mexican henchmen, Jose and Hose B to kidnap our heroine, Sandy, and keeping her as a threat in the old abandoned mine to prevent our hero, Buck the cowboy, from winning the Cowboy Derby, because if Sheriff Jack wins he will be able to evict Madame and get his evil hands on the saloon.Tumbleweed enlists the magical help of a very unlikely Fairy Saddle-Sore when he ‘rescues’ her from a well. All sorts of mayhem ensues with every pun, corny joke, risque comment and laugh possible squeezed out of a very clever, funny script.

The roles are:

  • Big Chief Pow Wow How Now Brown Cow – a large man, chief of the Indian tribe who has a few lines on four pages.
  • Silent Bob – a mute cowboy who is the sidekick of our hero and principal ‘Boy’ Buck the Cowboy. He does not speak until near the end where he has about five lines. Although there are few lines to learn, he is on stage at other times and there is some expressive mime.

If you think you could play either of these roles we need to hear from you now as rehearsals have begun. (although Big Chief has not been called yet).

There will be no rehearsals over Christmas or New Year, so we need to be ´show ready´ by the last rehearsal on 19th December. There will be an update rehearsal with technical and dress rehearsals straight after New Year, ready for opening night. The panto will run from 8th-12th January 2025 (the latter is a matinee).
