Have the payment machines in municipal car parks dropped back to the bronze age?

Ten years after opening, users of the underground car parks still can’t pay by card.

A user of the Xàbia underground car parks has sent Xabia AL DÍA this image of one of the payment machines that are in located in the municipal underground carparks.

The image clearly shows that a piece of paper has been placed over the slot into which notes can be inserted with a message in both Spanish and English that only coins are being accepted by the machine.

The user has expressed his regrets that the service isn’t being improved but it actually getting worse: “we are getting nowhere fast”. Users of the car park can no longer pay with notes and can only pay with coins, hardly a breakthrough for the 21st century.

More than ten years have passed since the municipal underground car-parks were completed and opened to the public and the local council has not yet been able to introduce a card payment system.

All in good time, perhaps.

For many years, you’ve told us how much you love what we’re doing and some of you have even asked for ways to say thanks. For us, there really is nothing easier to show someone how much you appreciate their efforts than buying them a beer (or a wine; or even a coffee) – it’s so simple.
