Full Programme: Fiestas in honour of Sant Antoni Xàbia 2025
The usual programme features blessings of animals, the burning of the pine and cart parades.
Xàbia starts the year with one of its most beloved celebrations: Sant Antoni Abad, patron saint of animals. This year, the events are more united than ever. Those of Penya La Burrera always take place on the 17th, the day of Sant Antoni whilst those of CAE El Tirasset take place on the weekend closest to the saint’s feast day. Since this falls on a Friday this year, the activities of both have been brought together, giving rise to a great weekend of celebration. Both the Historic Centre and Duanes de la Mar will once again be the scene of the usual programme.

From Friday 10th January to Sunday 2nd February 2025
17:00 · Porrat i Fira de Sant Antoni in Avenida Palmela.
On Friday 31st January at 18:00, Penya La Burrera will be offering a big hot chocolate party for all the children.
On Friday 24th January, the fairground will celebrate Children’s Day with reduced prices.
Friday 17th January 2025 · Feast Day of Sant Antoni
09:00 · Parade of the Fiesta Commission Sant Antoni Abad ‘Penya la Burrera‘ through the streets of Duanes de la Mar to rhythm of traditional dolzaina and drum.
12:00 · Solemn Mass in the port church of Nuestra Señora de Loreto which will include a raffle of an image of Sant Antoni Abad.
Afterwards, there will be blessing of the bread and a procession with the image of the saint to Paseo Pinter Joaquín Sorolla for the traditional blessing in the animals. At the end of this special event, Penya La Burrera will offer a small complimentary glass of wine to all attendees with the collaboration of the Ayuntamiento de Xàbia. Cancelled due to forecast of heavy rain.
Saturday 18th January 2025 · Burning of the Pine
11:30 · Gathering of the participants and horses in Calle Sant Antoni who will then travel to Plaza de la Constitución to the rhythm of traditional dulzaina and drum.
12:00 · The transfer of the majestic pine tree, dragged by strong horses from Plaza de la Constitución to Calle Sant Antoni, via Carrer dels Oms, Placeta del Convent, Rona Colón, Carrer Mare de Déu de la Mercè and Carrer La Font.
19:00 · Live music with Oxigen in Calle Sant Antoni where there will be a bar serving drinks at popular prices.
20:00 · BURNING OF THE PINE OF SANT ANTONI in the car-park of Calle Sant Antoni. There will be snacks and mistela on offer for all attendees.
Sunday 19th January 2025 · Blessing of the Animals
10:00 · Gathering of the participants of the horse and cart parade in Calle Sant Antoni.
12:00 · Parade of horses and carts through the streets of Xàbia along the following route: Calle Sant Antoni, Carrer San Joaquín, Ronda Sur, Avenida Amanecer, Avenida de los Fueros, Calle Toni Llidó, Avenida Jaume I, Plaza Presidente Adolfo Suárez, Calle Santísimo Cristo del Mar, Avenida Juan Carlos I, Carrer Cervantes, Avenida de Alicante, Ronda Norte, Avenida Príncipe de Asturias, Carrer San Juan Bautista and Plaza de la Constitución.
13:30 · Blessing of all the horses and animals in Plaza de la Constitución. Afterwards, presentation of the bread roll and image of the patron saint. (During the blessing, a ticket will be handed to each person who brings an animal for the raffle to win the image.)
At the end, all the participants will gather together and set off in caravan back to Calle Sant Antoni where the image of the saint will be returned to its niche to bring the festivities to an end.
