Fogueres 75: Exhibition highlighting the long history of the fiesta is inaugurated
The exhibition will be open until July 7th and will well worth a visit to understand the history of the biggest party of the year.
A new exhibition ’75 AÑOS DE FOGUERES XÀBIA 1950-2024′ has been inaugurated in the Centre d’Arts Lambert in Carrer Major, a collection of photos, costumes, badges, sashes, pins and other memorabilia that tells the story of the last 75 years of the biggest party of the year in Xàbia.
The exhibition, which is now open until July 7th, was opened on Tuesday evening by mayor Rosa Cardona, the councillor responsible for Fiestas and Culture, Mavi Pérez (CJP), and the president of the Fogueres Commission, Carmen Andrés, along with plenty of curious residents.
The collection brings together the history, the anecdotes, the experiences and the statistics that were unknown to many who attended in a special tour that brings together all the important aspects that make up the Fogueres de Sant Joan de Xàbia: the fireworks, the magical Nit dels Focs, the bonfire of old junk, the clothing, and many images of the quintàs and penyas that have become the characteristic elements of a fiesta that unites the town each year.

In addition, there is also an audiovisual room where videos that have collated by the Municipal Archive thanks to donations by generous local families are played as well as a documentary featuring the memories of such illustrous festeros as Pepe Marzal, Antonio Bisquert, Rosa Torres, Fina Ribes, Teresa Sart, Amparo Cardona and Teresa Ferrer.
The Centre d’Arts Lambert is located in Carrer Major, just a short two-minute walk from the Placeta del Convemt, and the exhibition is open from 10.00am to 1.00pm and then 6.00pm to 9.00pm Tuesday to Friday and on Saturday mornings between 10.00am and 1.00pm. Entrance is free.
