Fogueres 2024 | Preparations continue with presentation of sashes and badges
The formal event took place in front of the town hall building in front of family and friends.
With just a week to go before the start of the 2024 edition of the Fogueres de Sant Joan de Xàbia, preparations are stepping up with the Fogueres Commission handing out the sashes and badges to the top officials of this year’s festivities, the Queens, the Ladies-in-Waiting and the Presidents.
The formal event took place in the church square in front of the town hall building in the presence of family and friends, mayor Rosa Cardona, the councillor responsible for Fiestas, Mavi Pérez (CPJ), and the president of the Fogueres Commission, Carmen Andrés.
The queens, ladies-in-waiting and presidents were presented with their official sashes, whilst both queens and the presidents were handed a replica of the diadem of the Iberian treasure of Xàbia.
In addition, an honorary award was presented to Ignacio Sellés – “Nasio” – who has been linked to the celebrations of the Fogueres de Sant Joan in Xàbia since the 70s and the Fogueres Commission has granted him the privilege of lighting the fifth fire of the Nit dels Focs de Sant Joan on Sunday 23rd June.
