Festes Loreto 2024 · the festivities come to a spectacular conclusion
The image of the patron saint was carried around the streets of Duanes de la Mar before the fireworks brought the fiesta to an end.
On Sunday, Xàbia celebrated the spectacular conclusion to the festivities held in honour of Mare de Déu de Loreto, the patron of the Duanes de la Mar, that have filled the streets with music, fun and entertainment for the past two weeks.
The final day was one of devotion, tradition and emotion from the early morning with the tradition despertà wake-up parade and the ringing of the bells before a special mass in honour of the Virgin sung by the parish choir, followed by the noisy mascletà.
During the mass, the mayorales for the 2025 edition were revealed: Natalia Bustos, Toni Cholbi, Tere Cruañes, Juan Vicente Álvarez, Vicenta Torres, Juan Polvoreda, Mireia Font, Carles Alonso, Arantxa Mateo, Vicente Soler, Paloma Ferrer and Frank Suárez.
In the evening, there was the traditional procession of the image of the Mare de Déu de Loreto through the streets of Duanes de la Mar, accompanied by the mayorales, representatives of the different fiestas commissions and from the local council as well as the residents in general who lit the way with candles.
The festivities were brought to a spectacular close with the popular firework display over the sea, the pyrotechnics fired from floating platforms moored a few hundred metres of the coast where thousands of people gathered to watch the colourful display. With the spectacle of light and colour, Xàbia bid farewell to the 2024 edition of the festivities in honour of the Mare de Déu de Loreto.
