Festes Loreto 2024: Port fiesta kicks off with formal presentation ceremony

The festivities honouring Mare de Déu de Loreto, the patron of the port zone, kicked off on Saturday night with the official presentation ceremony of the Mayorales and Mayoralesas, the men and women who will be the main protagonists of the fiesta for 2024.

The ceremony took place in front of packed audience in Avenida Lepanto who welcomed the five couples with great applause: Leticia Bisquert Buigues and Daniel Pérez Barton; Laura Femenía Pastor and Antonio Mayans Ferrer; José David Bou Sala and Teresa Buigues Ros; Eloy Costa Pedrós and Noelia Ahuir Buigues; Fernando Mas Mas and Natalia Pérez Barton.

Several of them have the honour of being Mayorales for a second time, having first held the position in 2014: Daniel Perez, Natalia Pérez, Noelia Ahuir, Eloy Costa, Laura Femenía, Antonio Mayans, Leticia Bisquert, Teresa Buigues and José David Bou.

The event also welcomed the appointment of new members to the Loreto Fiesta Commission, including two babies. But it also had a surprise when Commission President Vicente Gavilá announced his resignation after seven years at the helm. During his speech, he thanked everyone who supported him during that time, especially his family from whom he had learnt the fundamental values to carry out the role.

Both the mayor Rosa Cardona and the councillor responsible for Fiestas, Mavi Pérez (CPJ), highlighted the great work carried out by the volunteers of the Fiesta Commission in organising these historic celebrations and invited everyone to participate in them and experience the festivities in brotherhood.

The special evening concluded with dancing into the early hours to MonteCarlo.
