Festes Loreto 2024 · Penya Les Marineres triumph in paella competition
Thirteen penyas took part in the paella competition, offering their own particular styles of this popular Valencian dish.
Penya Les Marineres claimed top prize in the 2024 edition of the Loreto paella competition, taking home a cash prize of 100 euros for their effort. Thirteen penyas participated in the event, which this year was held for the first time on Calle Doctor Fleming and was organised by the Comissión de Festes Mare de Déu de Loreto, each offering their own version of this typical Valencian dish.
The different styles of paella made it difficult for the jury to decide the winner and they deliberated long and hard for some time before finally choosing the quality, flavour and presentation of the dish cooked by Penya Les Marineres.
The competition was also accompanied by music provided by the talented young musicians of Xaranga M’En Fot who provided the soundtrack to another popular cooking competition.
