Dead cetacean discovered in the area of En Caló de Xàbia
The carcass, which is either a grey pilot whale or bottlenose dolphin, will be removed by the town hall.

This morning a group of bathers discovered a dead cetacean of considerable size in the area known as En Caló, near the Cova del Llop Marí. Notice was immediately given to the Policía Local, Cruz Roja, the municipal staff of the Department of the Environment, and the Fundación Oceanogràfic.
After an initial inspection, it appears that the remains, which are in an advanced state of decomposition, could belong to either a grey pilot whale or bottlenose dolphin. The difficult accessibility of the area and the condition of the cetacean has complicated its removal, since it must be towed by sea to Cala de la Granadella for subsequent transfer to a vehicle which will take it to a management centre for this type of waste.
During this afternoon, all the necessary means will be organized and tomorrow Thursday at first hour, the removal will proceed using the boat of the municipal cleaning service.
The town hall in Xàbia issued a reminder that, in the case of detecting marine animals, alive or dead, stranded both on land and in coastal waters, it is important to notify the Red de Varamientos de la Comunidad Valenciana through 112 so that the corresponding protocol is activated.
