CULTURE COUNCIL TO ANALYSE CHURCH RENOVATION
Xàbia Council has called an extraordinary session of the Municipal Culture Council tomorrow Thursday to talk about the renovation which is being carried out at the moment in the heart of the historic centre on the church-fortress of San Bartolomé.
Xàbia Council has called an extraordinary session of the Municipal Culture Council tomorrow Thursday to talk about the renovation which is being carried out at the moment in the heart of the historic centre on the church-fortress of San Bartolomé. Councillor Quico Moragues (Culture) explained that the modification of the bell tower which has seen crenellations added to the top has generated doubts amongst the population of the town about their historical justification.
Thus, the Council has conveyed this concern to and requested information from the technical side of the project as well as the Heritage Ministry which has been in charge of supervising the renovation project due to the level of protection of this historic building which is listed as a BIC ‘Site of Cultural Interest’.
Responsible architect Salvador Vila will present details of the project and answer questions from the representative of the Culture Council during tomorrow’s meeting which will also be attended by mayor José Chulvi.
