The Municipal Archive of Xàbia has published the terms and conditions for the third edition of the Research Prize Vila de Xàbia, an award that aims to broaden knowledge of local heritage and history.
The terms and conditions appeared in the Official Gazette of the Province on July 31 and refer to research papers that may be written in Valencian or Spanish with different themes within the generic framework of the humanities – archaeology, ethnography, history, art, geography, linguistics, documentary research – but always in the local area of the municipality of Xàbia and the regional area of the Marina Alta.
The projects to be evaluated by a jury should be submitted by October 1st through the electronic headquarters of the Xàbia Town Hall or in person at the Municipal Archive in Carrer d’Avall between 11.00am to 1.00pm.
The winner, who will receive 4,000 euros, will be chosen from among the projects submitted to a jury made up of municipal specialists and members of cultural and educational associations, among others.
The terms state that, after presentation of the award, the winner will have six months to submit a report justifying having carried out at least half of the research work. In total, it must have a minimum length of 60 pages and a maximum of 200.
Third Edition
The first of those awarded this prize was the historian David Gutiérrez who produced a word entitled “Xàbia in the life and work of Joaquín Sorolla” whilst the second was awarded to the team made up of Francesc Reus, Antonio Sesé, Enrique Bas and Joaquín Carbonell for their work “Education in Xàbia: 1950 to the present day”.
