The current contract for the management of the seawater desalination plant in Xàbia, presently run by Acciona Agua, expires in 2023. The facility suffered a serious breakdown last year, but the reason why was not communicated to the local council nor were the solutions that have been implemented to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.

With the contract due to expire, and the appointment of a coordinator of the desalination plant approved by plenary session, the C’s spokesman in Xàbia, Enrique Escrivá, has proposed that the municipal water company AMJASA prepare a study of the costs that the company would entail to manage the facility directly without the need for a third-party intermediary.

Escrivá explained that “we still have time to carry out a complete study that will allow us to choose the most profitable, efficient and sustainable solution for xabieros”.
