Council establishes daily coastal cleaning routine

The service will continue until the end of August.

The Department of Services, in collaboration with TETMA, the company responsible for street and beach cleaning in Xàbia, has launched a summer cleaning operation of the coves and coastline of the municipality, a service that will continue until the end of August.

The team will consist of a boat and two workers who will be responsible to remove rubbish and other detritus from the coastal areas of the town between Cova Tallada in the north to Cala Granadella in the south. Collected by hand, the waste will then be deposited in the appropriate recycling containers.

The Department of Services, headed by councillor Juanjo García (PP), explained that the cleaning operation aims to reach points where, up to now, regular cleaning has not been carried out, such as Cova Tallada, Cala Tangó, Cala del Francés as well as other common areas such as the Primer and Segon Muntanyars and the harbour walls of the port of Xàbia.

The council has reminded both residents and visitors of the use of the appropriate waste collection containers on the beaches to prevent rubbish from ending up in the sea as well as boat owners who enjoy Xàbia’s coastline who are provided with recycling points in the mooring areas.
