Council approves renovation project for Parque Montaner
The project forms part of the council’s campaign to clean up municipal green areas and playgrounds.
The Governing Board of Xàbia Council has approved the specifications for the hiring of an architect to design a renovation of Parque Montaner, a contract that is being put out to tender with an initial budget of 37,994 euros.
Parque Montaner is located between Plaza de la Constitución and IES Antoni Llidó and is currently made up of a children’s play area, a dog park, an outdoor gym area and the Ruirau dels Català d’Arnauda.
The specifications of the contract will be to draft the renovation project as well as to take on management of the renovation itself including coordination with health and safety. The project will be carried out under the direction, supervision and approval of staff from the Department of Parks & Gardens.
The drafting of the renovation project should take into account the following requirements:
- The design will be carried out in such a way that there are no current problems of sandy and earthy material drifting onto public roads, avoiding unevenness that could cause the aforementioned drifting.
- A children’s play area for children up to 12 years old. Inclusive games will be included in each of the different play areas, with the corresponding safety pavement.
- An area for seniors with installation of various gymnastics equipment for seniors.
- The current gymnastics area, recently built, will be maintained.
- A dog park. As at present, an area for dogs will be established, which must be conveniently separated from the rest of the areas of the park.
- Perimeter enclosure of the park respecting the three main entrances as well as the entrance to the high school from the park.
- Inclusion, as far as possible, of the existing Riurau inside the park.
- Lighting, irrigation and video surveillance installations.
- The greatest possible accessibility will be made for people with disabilities.
- These areas must be programmed so that they do not interfere with each other without the use of physical barriers such as fences or slopes.
- Lands with a slope greater than 1% will be avoided, creating areas at different levels with the corresponding accesses according to accessibility regulations.
- The pavement must be as natural as possible, only asphalt or concrete will be allowed in vehicle circulation areas.
- The large trees should remain so that the maximum number of elements is preserved, such as ficus, palm trees, yuccas, Chorisias, pines and other plant elements of interest.
- Perimeter fencing, with two-meter-high panels, leaving the current existing entrances for access to the interior of the park.
- Installation of signage indicating the different areas and ages of use as well as the limitation of access to animals.
- Gardening should be aimed at minimizing water consumption and the subsequent maintenance of vegetation.
Once the tender process has been completed and an architect selected, the project will be reviewed by the Children’s Council in order to collect their contributions and have them incorporated into the final project.
The Department of Parks & Gardens also has a credit reserve of 50,000 euros for the acquisition of new play equipment for the children’s parks and is also working to carry out a series of improvement interventions in the different municipal parks.
Mayoress Rosa Cardona said that “these are the first steps to try to clean up the municipal green areas and playgrounds that are in poor condition.”
The tax demands will be delivered to the home. If not received, they can be downloaded from the Oficina Virtual Tributaria (click here) or in person at the Oficial de Atención al Público in Calle Mayor, 15.
