Climate change expert says that it’s only a matter of time before new coastal restaurant is destroyed

The geographer and climatologist Jonathan Gómez Cantero who presents the weather on TV in Castilla la Mancha has predicted that it is “a matter of time” before the new restaurant in Segundo Montañar de Xàbia is destroyed from maritime storms, due to its proximity, along with the homes that surround it, to the water’s edge.
Gómez Cantero spent this weekend in Xàbia, and left this ominous message about the future of the restaurant on his Twitter account, together with two images from the rocks: “In Jávea (Alicante), after several storms that have destroyed the coastline, a newly built restaurant intends to defy everything by settling where the waves have reached several times. The promoter says he complies, but come on, it’s only a matter of time before it is destroyed“.
En Jávea (Alicante) tras varios temporales que han destrozado la línea de costa, un restaurante de nueva construcción pretende desafiar todo instalándose donde varias veces han llegado las olas.

The presenter is also an expert in natural risks and climate change, and visited Xàbia and the region in search of “national gastronomic experiences”. And as he could not otherwise, one of those experiences was enjoyed in the two Michelin star restaurant of Xàbia,Bon Amb. There he met the team led by Pablo Catalá and Alberto Ferruz as well as the award-winning sommelier, Enrique García Albelda.
Meanwhile, at the “endangered” restaurant on the coast, workers are busy completing the last details of the place, which already has a name. It will be called – or so it says at the entrance – Thalassa.
