CHRISTMAS LOTTERY 2024 | Logroño celebrates as 72480 is matched with “El Gordo”
Three tickets numbers sold in Jávea were were matched with the third, fourth and fifth prizes.
Christmas came a few days early for those who held ticket number 72480 for the Christmas National Lottery, the draw of which was held this morning in the Teatro Real in Madrid. The top prize – “El Gordo” – was drawn at 11:27, two hours and 15 minutes after the draw started.
The ticket, worth 4 million euros (or 400,000 euros per décimo) was sold exclusively by a small lottery administration in the heart of Logroño in La Rioja which has form in selling winning tickets. In 2022 it sold the number that won first prize in the ‘El Niño’ draw and in 2014 it sold ten décimos which won the first prize in the Christmas draw.
Administration Manager Emilio Herrero explained that a large part of that money will head to San Blas-Canillejas, a suburb of Madrid where the CD Distrito Olímpic sports club has re-sold tickets with that number for some years. “A little more than half of the tickets have been sold to the team and the rest have been sold at the counter”.
Jávea has seen it share of the luck of the draw once again. The third prize of 500,000 euros (50,000 euros per décimo) was drawn against ticket number 11840 which was sold by the lottery administration in Calle Santísimo Cristo del Mar. The same administration also sold one of the numbers which won the fifth prize (74778 – worth 60,000 euros per ticket or 6,000 euros per décimo). Meanwhile one of the numbers sold by the lottery administration located in Tabacos Arenal in Avenida de la Libertad – 77768 – claimed one of the two fourth prizes worth 200,000 euros (20,000 euros per décimo) as well as one of the fifth prizes (ticket number 74778).
Ticket number 11840 was also sold in Alzira, Benidorm, Catarroja, Gandia, Manises, Orihuela, Requena, Santa Pola, Torrevieja and Valencia as well as several other locations across the country whilst ticket number 77768 was also sold over the hill in Dénia, in Pego, in Oliva and in Gandía as well as in Alicante, Alzira, Benidorm, Elche, Ibi, L’Alfaz del Pi, Orihuela, Torrevieja and Valencia amongst others.
All the main prizes were drawn by 13:31 and the full draw was completed about ten minutes later.
