CD Jávea kicks off the new season with a trip down to Alicante to take on Hércules CF “B” on Saturday evening, kick-off 6.00pm. And, after five weeks of intense pre-season training which included seven friendly games against strong opposition, head coach Julio Ivorra is confident that his squad is ready to take their place in the inaugural season of the Lliga Comunitat.

Speaking with local reporter Vicente Fornes, Ivorra said that he was happy that he has been able to develop a squad mixed with experience and youth. “[The more experienced players] must be an example for young people like Raúl García, Mario Feliu and Raúl Caudeli who will contribute that vitality and enthusiasm that youth has“, he said, adding that “we have the youth players, Carlos and Adrián, who were here last season and who are more prepared to play with us. There is a lot of competition and that is good and we will seek to take advantage of each other’s best attributes“.

Speaking about the new format and the new elite tier for amateur football in the region, a level in which CD Jávea will be playing this season, the head coach admitted that it will be a tough season with the likes of Calpe, Tavernes, Olímpic and L’Olleria as well as the strong development of CF Benidorm who are likely to be bidding for the top spot. He added that he hasn’t set specific goals: “I believe that we will be competitive in each match, that we will be able to deal with any defeat, and that my players enjoying playing football. If they enjoy it, the fans will too“.

The fans can play their part in this new campaign by becoming members (socios) of the football club from just 25 euros a year. See the link below to discover more.

What is the Lliga Comunitat?

The formation of the new top tier known as the Lliga Comunitat, the sixth level in the Spanish football pyramid, was approved by 47 of 55 football clubs in the Comunidad Valenciana who met at the 1st FFCV Preferente Congress in October 2022 and will provide a more direct link to the national Tercera Federación. Two regional groups of 16 teams in each will play each other twice (home and away) with the champions in each group winning automatic promotion to the Tercera Federación. A play-off competition between the second- and third-placed team in each group will determine the third team from the Lliga Communitat to win promotion. The bottom three in each group will be relegated to the Primera FFCV.
