CFI Alicante 1-1 CD Jávea

It was described as a “match of the greats” between CFI Alicante and CD Jávea, a very difficult game in which Jávea failed to find a way of taking some benefit of a numerical advantage after the hosts were reduced to ten men after the sending off of goalkeeper Edu García on 34 minutes.

The keeper had brought down Álvaro as the Jávea player looked certain to score. The resultant spot kick was taken by the same player but his effort was well-saved by the substitute keeper Aguiar. Jávea dominated the first half and the hosts were grateful to reach the break with a 0-0 scoreline.

The second half began with clear dominance of Jávea. Obele had an opportunity to open the scoring but his header was blocked by a defender. At the other end, Alicante also had their chance but Edu Samblás made a stop before the hosts took an unlikely lead on 74 minutes through Peral. Jávea pushed for the equaliser which arrived ten minutes later through Luis Carlos to force a share of the spoils.

The draw means CD Jávea drop to fourth place, Racing FC Benidorm leap-frogging the rojiblancos after a 4-2 home win over struggling club Racing Rafelcofer CF. However, Jávea can re-claim third spot on Wednesday evening if they beat (or even just draw) against UD Portuarios in the club’s game in hand.
