CD Jávea draw 1-1 with UD Benissa in mid-season friendly match

06-Javea

Sunday 6th February 2022 – XÀBIA AL DÍA with Mike Smith

Taking advantage of this weekend’s break, CD Jávea and UD Benissa played a friendly match at the municipal football ground in Xàbia, a game which provided an opportunity for the coaches to assess all members of their squads, including those sitting on the fringes of the senior team.

UD Benissa play in the Primera Regional, one step below CD Jávea, but it was the visitors who took an early lead through a corner which was partially cleared but only to Lino to beat Javea’s keeper Edu with a low shot. The home side struggled to take command in the centre and consequently both Rubén and Héctor were left wanting up front. On a positive note, new signing Roberto was able to make his first appearance for the club since his return whilst David Buigues was able to take his place on the right wing.

In the second half, both sides made several changes and within a few minutes, Héctor scored the equaliser, beating the visiting keeper from just inside the area. For the rest of the game, there were chances for both sides that came to nothing with Benissa showing why they have been fighting for promotion back to the Regional Preferente.

CD Jávea. Edu, David, Caturla, Cristian, Juli, Elián, Marcos, Fran, Roberto, Héctor y Rubén. Second half: Joel, Ismael, Omar, Paolo, Corbalán y Álvaro.

UD Benissa. Sergio, Gerardo, Jairo, Pana, Víctor, Chimino, Isaac, Carrió, Lach, Lino y Koke. Second half: Soto, Otis, Moha, Liche, César, Aitor, Signes, Lose María y Toni.

Referee. Alejandro Gomis, an uncomplicated match in which he gave just a couple of warnings.
