CE La Font d’Encarros 0-0 CD Jávea

By all accounts, CD Jávea dropped two points in La Font d’Encarrós, on a difficult and small pitch against a side slowly adjusting to life in the upper echelons of regional football in the Comunidad Valenciana. The rojiblancos crushed the hosts 4-1 back in September to maintain their pace amongst the early pacesetters. Once again, the home side rarely threatened Edu’s goal, who had a comfortable afternoon behind a solid back line commanded by Cristian, whilst Paco and Javi tried to move the ball well on a small pitch and several times threatened the home defence.

However, it was not until the 20th minute that Jávea finally carved out a real opportunity to take the lead. Some good play by Juli down the left side saw a floated ball sent into the area which was was well met by the head of Quintana but a defender was on had to block the attempt. A minute later, Quintana might have done better after pouncing on a loose ball after good work by Cabo but his shot was just wide of the post. On 30 minutes, the home had their only real chance of the game when Furu met a cross at the far post but his effort powered harmlessly over the bar.

Just before the break, experienced midfielder Javi had a couple of chances to open the scoring, the first a volley from just inside the area that went high, whilst the second was a long-range show that was palmed away for the corner by the home keeper.

In the second half, Jávea’s dominance was clear as they took complete control of the midfield but lacked the same command in attack. Opportunities for a goal were few and far between, all from the visitors, but included a chance from Javi who met a great cross from Fran but fired just wide, a move from the entire front line that ended with Cabo firing straight into the arms of the keeper, and the clearest chance of the game coming in added time at the end of the half when Javi’s shot from just inside the area hit the post. It was the last chance of the game which ended a goalless draw, flattering the hosts who had very little to show for their afternoon’s work.

CD Jávea drop to 10th position and, to add further to their frustration, tenacious midfielder was taken to hospital where he was found to have a several ankle sprain.

Next weekend, CD Jávea host bottom club Racing d’Algemesi, a side which they comfortable beat 2-1 in the opposite fixture back in early October.
