CD Jávea confirms new sports director as club faces life after relegation
Ramiro will be working with head coach Julio Ivorra to develop a competitive squad for the new season.
CD Jávea have announced that former player Rubén Ramiro Serrano, better known as ‘Ramiro’, has re-joined the club as the new sports director and will be working closely with head coach Julio Ivorra and his coaching team to develop a competitive squad that will fight for promotion back to the Lliga Comunitat.
Ramiro made 18 appearances in midfield for CD Jávea in the second half of the 2013-14 season, scoring three goals, a campaign which saw the rojiblancos finished 9th. Born in Gandía, he has a solid academic background, being a graduate in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences as well as a Level 1 coaching qualification. His experience and knowledge in the sporting field will be fundamental for the development and success of the club in the coming season.
Although the FFCV won’t confirm the formation of the regional football pyramid until later in the summer, it is likely that CD Jávea will be placed in Group III of the Primera FFCV, a group which covers team located in the southern half of the Province of Valencia and those who sit in the northern extremities of the Province of Alicante, especially since two of the three teams relegated from the southern group of the Liga Comunitat along with the rojiblancos are located well south of Jávea (Callosa Deportiva and Santa Pola CF, who will join Group IV).
At this level, only the champions of each of the four groups are automatically promoted whilst the runners-up in each will compete in a play-off competition to determine the final two promotion spots. Therefore, the ultimate objective of CD Jávea should be at least a second place finish, if not the championship. The club has not won a league since the 1989-90 season when a first place finish saw the club promoted to the Tercera División, which was the fourth tier of the Spanish pyramid at the time. Therefore a championship-winning season is overdue.
