Carrer Nou will be pedestrianized from December
Residents will be able to access their garages and for loading and unloading purposes.
Monday 29th November 2021 – PRESS RELEASE with Mike Smith
Xàbia Council has announced that, from this Wednesday 1st December, Carrer Nou will become a pedestrian street after a request endorsed with the signatures of a large part of the neighborhood.
The feasibility of this conversion had been studied by the public roads department and included a citizen safety report, which agrees that taking cars off the road (until now it was allowed to park alternately on one side of the street) will make it more accessible for emergency vehicles and will also facilitate entry to garages and even houses by not parking vehicles next to narrow sidewalks.
Pedestrianization will also have a positive impact on the quality of life and social life on a road with low houses in which there has always been a lot of life on the street and in the neighborhood.
As of Wednesday, the street will only have access to pedestrians and those vehicles of residents who want to access their garages or carry out loading and unloading tasks. The Local Police have confirmed that an identification card is being provided to the residents so that if there is someone pending the process of applying for it, they should visit the local police station at Portal del Clot.
