BREAKING | Bathing at the Arenal Beach prohibited due to contamination
The town hall will be carrying out an additional analysis to confirm the presence of high levels of bacteria of fecal origin.

Xàbia Council has taken the decision to CLOSE the Arenal beach after the latest analysis of the water quality carried out by the Water Control Programme of the General Directorate of Water suggested that there was the presence of high levels of bacteria of fecal origin.
After receiving the results of the analysis, the town hall issued instructions to both the Policía Local and Cruz Roja Xàbia to close the beach, raise the red flag to indicate bathing is prohibited, and report the situation over the PA system.
The Department of Beaches has commissioned an additional analysis to that carried out by the General Directorate of Water and will public the results as soon as they are received.
