It has been a turbulent summer off the field for CD Jávea. At the end of July, the entire board of directors resigned, citing a lack of enthusiasm for taking the club forward after several years at the helm at a time when annual municipal funding to the tune of 117,000 euros had been withheld due to an external audit.

Despite this unsettling situation, new head coach Manuel Esteban prepared his team for the new season, one with ambitions to build on the third-place finish at the end of the truncated 2020-21 campaign and finally achieve promotion to the national league system for the first time since the mid-1990s. And, indeed, things have kicked off in the right way with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at local rivals CE Pedreguer.

On Friday 3rd September, elections were due to be held for a new board of directors of the football club. As expected, no candidates presented themselves and consequently the management of the club was transferred to a new board which would be made up of club members and people linked to the club. This new board would assume full control immediately, given the immediacy of the situation and the imminent start of competitions.

With the first home game of the season on Saturday 11th September against Muro CF (kick-off 6.00pm), CD Jávea has begun a new campaign to encourage more people to become members of their local football club and thus become part of the new way forward for CD Jávea. Standard membership costs 50 euros for the year, with a discounted price of 25 euros for the year for young people (those under 25 years of age) and senior citizens (those aged 65 and over). The benefits of being a member, aside from playing a part in the destiny of the club, includes free entry to all first team home games (with the exception of a special designated “member’s day” in which everyone pays, an initiative to provide a regular boost the coffers at the football club).

More details about membership are available from the football club’s offices at the football ground in Freginal, which is open from 6.00pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, via email on info@cdjavea.es or at the main gate on first team matchdays.

The new board of the CD Jávea says that “the contribution of the partners and collaborating companies is essential to carry out the management of the club and the training of the students at the football academy. Become a member and you will be helping to make CD Jávea a better club”.
