The Regional Tourism Minister, Marián Cano, has highlighted the positive hotel occupancy rates recorded in the Comunidad Valenciana during Semana Santa, stating that “these figures confirm that we continue to be a leading tourist destination during this holiday period“.

The data was published on Tuesday by the Asociación Empresarial Hotelera y Turística de la Comunidad Valenciana (HOSBEC), which placed the average occupancy rate in hotels across the Valenciana region at 85% during Easter week

The regional minister emphasized that, as is typical during this time of year, last-minute bookings have exceeded initial forecasts. “Occupancy rates during Semana Santa are always influenced by the weather, and this year the weather forecast encouraged many tourists to book at the last minute,” she explained.

According to the data published by HOSBEC, the average occupancy rate for the Comunidad Valenciana was 85%. By province, Alicante exceeded 89%, Valencia registered 86%, and Castellón 82%. Furthermore, the results provided by the hotel association indicate that the tourist destinations of Benidorm and Gandia reached 92% hotel occupancy.

Cano emphasized that Semana Santa is “the first major event in the tourist calendar of the year, with mainly domestic demand and a high loyalty rate“. In this regard, she praised “the effort and professionalism of the tourism sector, which continues to focus on quality and the constant improvement of its services to consolidate the Comunidad Valenciana as one of the preferred destinations for Spaniards“.

The hotel occupancy data published by HOSBEC also include occupancy forecasts for the second half of April and for the May 1st long weekend, which, according to the association, will see an upward trend. Cano added that “International Workers’ Day, along with Friday 2nd May being a holiday in Madrid, our main national source market, anticipates a significant influx of visitors to the Comunidad Valenciana“.

Finally, the Minister emphasized that “the Tourism department works throughout the year to promote the Comunidad Valenciana’s wide and diverse tourist attractions, tailored to all audiences, because we want tourists who visit us to return and for those who haven’t yet visited us to choose us as their next vacation destination“.
