The Arts Society Marina Alta (TASMA) invites you to experience story of “Francis Bacon: From the Gutter to the Ritz” as dramatically told by Frank Woodgate, a captivating presenter.
Francis Bacon was an Irish-born British figurative painter known for his raw, unsettling imagery. Bacon was regarded as Britain’s greatest 20th Century artist, and his dramatic images can be exquisitely beautiful and shocking at the same time. Perhaps more than any other artist, he captured the darkness at the heart of the human experience.
Frank Woodgate is uniquely qualified, as a Lecturer at Tate Britain, Tate Modern and the National Trust, to speak on Francis Bacon.
The lectures will take place on Wednesday 7th May at the Espai la Senieta in Moraira at 11.00am (doors open at 10.15am), where there will be a post-lecture social hour at Brasserie Vivaldi for discussion and to enjoya complimentary glass of wine or soft drink with friends, and at the Casa de Cultura in Plaça del Baix in the heart of the historic centre of Xàbia at 7.30pm (doors open at 6.45pm), where the post-lecture social will take place at Chilitos.
Both lectures are priced at 15 euros for guests (prepaid donation) but are free for members of The Arts Society and seats can be booked in advance by contacting the Arts Society by email at marinaalta@theartssociety.org or online here.
