The Department of Health has informed Xàbia Council that the Auxiliary Health Clinic in the Arenal will be open from Friday 22nd March to Monday 8th April in order to serve the residents of the neighbourhood as well as the tourists and visitors who will be spending some time in Xàbia over the Easter period.

The opening of the clinic was one of the requests that the mayor Rosa Cardona conveyed to the Minister of Health, Marciano Gómez, when she met with the mayors of the region on February 1st.

The office, which is located on Avenida de Paris in the Jávea Park sports zone, will open Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 3.00pm and on Saturdays from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Patients will be attended by a doctor, a nurse and an administrator. Emergencies will continue to be attended to 24 hours a day at the town’s health centre.

The management of the Health Department notified the local council of the decision to open a few days ago and the local government has taken steps to ensure that the space is in perfect condition.

Xàbia Council will continue to pursue the procedures so that this temporary health clinic is made permanent and in a location in the area. In this regard, the councilor responsible for Health, Fátima Jarjor, explained that municipal staff are finalizing the specifications of the premises and will shortly be opening the public tender process for the purchase of that space that has a credit reserve of 400,000 euros.

She added that the tripartite government is firmly committed to ensuring that the Arenal has a permanent clinic and the first step is to have adequate facilities.
