Translated from a press release from Ajuntament de Xàbia
The municipal water company AMJASA has signed a biannual agreement with the two secondary schools in Xàbia by which the centres will undertake to include actions to raise awareness among students on the subject of water education with all its diversity: rainwater, sewage, purification and desalination.
The schools will organize different collaborative actions with the municipal company to raise awareness about the rational use and knowledge of the integral water cycle. One of them will be that the schools will inform the students of the water consumption they have made every fortnight so that they are aware.
They will also make the students aware of the historical difficulties that Xàbia has suffered in relation to obtaining drinking water in the context of the Mediterranean drought cycle and the need to reuse purified water and complete the integral water cycle, a priority objective for the public company.
In return, AMJASA will be assuming the economic cost of drinking water in the two secondary schools.
This agreement, signed today by the mayor and president of AMJASA, José Chulvi, and the directors of both schools, is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility actions maintained by the water company and its objectives of raising awareness among the population so that they become involved in the rational use and saving of water, a path in which young people are key.
