Last week the 2022-2023 vaccination campaign against the flu and the fourth dose of COVID for certain risk groups has begun. In both cases, patients from the Dénia Health Department have to request an appointment through the MS Virtual Counter APP, call the Primary Care telephone switchboard or the health centre in their area.

In the case of vaccination against influenza, the Dénia Health Department has received 6% more doses this year than those supplied in the previous year, a total of almost 47,000. In 2021-2022, more than 44,000 doses were supplied and the vaccination rate was 70% among those over 65 years of age. The peculiarity of the current campaign is that, in certain cases, the two vaccines will be administered simultaneously.

As in past campaigns, the flu campaign was targeted at patients over 65 and those with a high risk of complications. Also for health and socio-health personnel, people in residential centers, pregnant women in any trimester and women who are undergoing the puerperium are being administered with the vaccine as well as workers of essential public services –state security forces and bodies, firefighters, civil protection, etc.

With regard to COVID-19, the fourth dose will be administered to patients over 60 years of age, health and socio-health personnel and people interned in residential centers.

In this campaign, 1st and 2nd doses of COVID-19 will also be dispensed to children between five and 12 years old who have not yet been vaccinated.
