The young woman from Gandía who collided with six cyclists from Xàbia four years ago, killing three of them, has been sentenced to three years and nine months in prison.
There were no surprises and the parties signed an agreement on Monday morning before the Criminal Magistrate Court 1 in Gandía to avoid a hearing as confirmed last week.
It is the maximum penalty that can be applied since the accident happened shortly before the penalties for this type of crime were increased. Specifically, the driver has been charged on three crimes of reckless homicide, three of serious injury and one against road safety,
In addition, XAD has learned that the driver has delivered a letter of condolences to the lawyers of the families.
What was not discussed during the session was when the driver would go back to prison to serve her sentence.
