Arsènic, the Valencian mestizo rock group from Xàbia, has released La Senda, the first track of their new EP L’Últim Anhel, a new work that will consist of three unpublished original songs and accompanied by their respective video clips, which will be released over the coming months. It’s a new contribution to music that the members of the band hope to be able to incorporate into their repertoire throughout this summer, as long as the evolution of the pandemic allows it.

L’Últim Anhel has emerged over the past year after the group had to cancel their summer tour due to health restrictions on holding events and shows. This EP “was born from the desire to present a more serious and more formal project” with respect to their first album Preparem la invasió.

Sergi Gisbert (vocals and dolçaina), Javier Miragall (vocals and guitar), Àlex Moragues (guitar and backing vocals), Juan Vallés (drums), Hector Mut (trombone), Luís García (trumpet) and Sergio Cañadas (bass); they form the local group and, after touring the Comunidad Valenciana with the nine songs that make up this first album, they seek greater musical and poetic maturity with their new work.

It’s a personal growth that serves the group to consolidate and define its own style. Arsènic is characterized by sprinkling the rock genre with touches of other styles and by deep lyrics with a great deal of social criticism that they use to show their concerns and disagreement with current issues. Of course, the songs invite you to move and sing to your heart’s content.

La Senda talks about the usual disappointment that everyone experiences as they grow older. Instead of winning a coveted freedom, responsibilities increase through studies, work, family, etc. and it is when one feels a certain longing and melancholy of that time in which that freedom was experienced but one was not aware of it. The end of the theme and the video itself try to show that this feeling and this becoming are essentially the result of capitalism and social conventions and that, after all, they are the law of life.

In 2019, Arsènic reaped great success throughout the Valencian territory thanks to Preparem la invasión the album that has already recorded 100,000 views on YouTube and Spotify. In addition, it has achieved several nominations in the regional music field in the categories of best mestizo album and best revelation group album at the Ovidi Awards and the nomination for best music album of the year at the Tresdeu Awards. The xabieros have also participated in outstanding events of the Valencian music scene such as the Festivern, Xalònia and the Caparrock, among others.

La Senda can be heard from this May 6 on the digital platforms of YouTube and Spotify.
