Vaccination of teaching staff in Valencia sees more than 60,000 receives jabs on Saturday

The regional health minister Ana Barceló has reported that the first day of vaccination of teaching staff in the Comunidad Valenciana has passed “without incident”, with more than 30,500 people administered with their jabs on Friday afternoon and more than 60,000 people expected to pass through the 25 vaccination points located throughout the Comunidad Valenciana.

Barceló said that the success of the campaign “is the result of a collective effort by the teaching staff of the Comunidad Valenciana, the Ministry of Education and the town councils, who have all collaborated to ensure that the entire vaccination process run smoothly. And, of course, we must recognise the work of the health personnel for the efforts beyond purely a job.”

Up to 12.30pm on Saturday, more than 20,000 doses had been administered and the process continue throughout the day. “The best hope of ending the pandemic, vaccination, moves forward”.

More than 145,000 teachers and staff in the Comunidad Valenciana will receive the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine across four days, a programme that will also take place on Wednesday and Thursday next week. The plan has been organised in such a way that the largest number of people as possible can be vaccinated in the shortest possible time.

This has been achieved by the regional health ministry expanding the number of vaccination teams to 250 and the creation of 25 specialized vaccination spaces installed in different centres and municipal spaces which have been suitable adapted and converted to administer the vaccine.
