Culture returns to Xàbia with concert, exhibitions and children’s circus show

As the health situation continues to stabilize in the region, the Department of Culture in Xàbia has resumed its cultural programme with a limited agenda of activities for all audiences.
On Thursday 18th March, two new art exhibitions open. Contemporary artist Jesús Manuel Morano will be offering his collection ‘La Línea Blanca’ at the Casa del Cable (Paseo Marina Española in the port) until Sunday 30th May whilst young Dénia artist Carles Romany will be displaying his project “Memory Given, Space Lost” at the Centre d’Arts Lambert (Casa Tena) in Calle Mayor in the historic centre until Saturday 24th April.
For music fans, the Ars Nova choral group will be celebrating its 20th anniversary with a special concert of Fauré’s Requiem, a moving piece during which they will pay tribute to the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic and those who have fought against this terrible disease. Teresa Albero (soprano), Rodrigo Esteves (baritone), Sílvia Ferrer (piano and organ) and Francisco Pineda (cello) will perform as soloists, while Pere Vicalet will be conducting. In order to comply with capacity restrictions, there will be two concerts in the ancient church of San Bartolomé – both free entry – on Saturday 20th March at 8.30pm and Sunday 21st March at 5.00pm. Those interested in attending have until 2.00pm this Thursday to ring 96 579 43 44.
On Sunday 21st March at 12 noon, there is a special event for children and their families. The Troupe Malabo presents a fun circus show entitled “Oníricus” at the Riurau d’Arnauda amongst the trees of Parque Montaner. Tickets are priced at 3 euros and can be purchased in advance at the Casa del Cultura in Plaça del Baix until the morning of Thursday 18th March.
